Alright so, some of your favorite pages - doesn't have to be the best ones...
Toni
As I said, no instant favorites pages and I don't really think about it, but now when I look at it, I appreciate the crazy drawings because I really wish I kept some of my drawings when I was a kid. This is a great momento - not related to dinosaurs - just whatever, look at this - dinosaurs with knives, (laughing) or dinosaurs in the snow - how crazy is that?
Ben
Yeah this one is pretty crazy. And this is at the end of the book?
Toni
This is the end of the book, where craziness is ok. There was my approval.
Ben
Now what kind of dinosaur is holding this knife, by the way?
Toni
A dinosaur that's wearing one sneaker? (laughing) I don't know...
Ben
It looks like a high heel too I think, looks like it's got a heel.
Toni
I think it's a sneaker. I wouldn't draw high heels back then - didn't know about that. This one dinosaur is blind, as you can see he has Ray Charles glasses.
Ben
This one has two tails it looks like, ya?
Toni
Yeah, but it might be a mistake.
Ben
And whats this thing coming out of it?
Toni
Like some kind of computer.
Ben
Fuck, (laughing) Crazy.
Toni
But this is kind of random, I think this one is better. It says 'Dino Winter' - like coldness.
Ben
And it's like a bunch of dinosaurs hanging out?
Toni
There is a dinosaur santa, come on. He doesn't have reindeers but triceratops (laughing). They are snowballing, they are making a snow-saurus (laughing).
Ben
Which one is the snow-saurus?
Toni
I mean like a snowman but it's a snow-saurus. There is even punk graffiti: Dino + Stega, like stega is a female stegosaurus and like some punk with weed (laughing) but it's a dinosaur.
Ben
And where is this santa? (Toni points) Oh yeah yeah! Crazy...
Toni
It's basically dinosaurs being people...people-saurs (laughing).
Ben
Did you ever get into a book called Dinotopia?
Toni
I don't know...
Ben
You should check it out man, you would dig it. But that's another story. This dude James Gurney does it.
Toni
What kind of story?
Ben
His illustrations are super good - I'll show you next (laughing). Ok, what are some other pages? One more.
Toni
I don't know, besides this random bullshit, I think I like the ones where I drew something good, like something I couldn't draw today, like something like this (points to page 54). You know? These are good.
Ben
Yeah, super good.
Toni
I like the action - explosions!
Ben
Damn, you got like depth in there, foreshortening...
Toni
Everyone is running somewhere, T-rex is panicked...It says asteroid killer! - killer asteroid!
Ben
(Makes explosion noises) (laughing).
Toni
Two fucking dinosaurs dead! A million to go (laughing).
Ben
And then this is the same page that your nephew drew. Going to the last page in the book...
Toni
These are not numbered...

No, this is postscript.

There is like a lot of blank pages in between, eh?
Ben
Yeah, there's not a ton but there is definitely some. Then your nephew tried to draw the same thing (roar noises). He doesn't have the same...how should we say...style I guess.
Toni
But it's cool, because his looks like...I don't know...
Ben
Basquiat? (laughing) (roar noises continue)...
Toni
His dino is more punk-ass. He looks not scared but irritated.
Ben
And he also did the explosion.
Toni
But his explosion is much more bigger...
